Discounts and support with money
Discounts and support with money
Both nationally and locally there is a range of financial support and discounts available for individuals with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), as well as their carers. Learn more about what financial support may be available to you and how you can apply.
Discount cards
Discount cards are available to families who have a child with a disability.
For example, a MAX card would give you free entry to Castle Museum, Jorvik Centre, Yorkshire Museum, York Art Gallery, St Saviourgate, and more with the MAX Card.
Disability Living Allowance
The Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is extra money to help parents with the extra costs of looking after a child under 16 who needs more care or has trouble walking because of an illness, injury, or disability.
It has 2 parts:
- a care component (for extra help during the day and night)
- a mobility component (for help getting around) with different payment levels depending on needs
You can find out more about DLA for children and DLA for adults on the GOV.UK website.
