Autism Team Support

Autism Support is available for parent carers from the Specialist Teaching Team for Autism.

We provide:

fortnightly Topic Talks Autumn Term 2025
a parent carer phone line and drop-in

Fortnightly Topic Talks Spring Term 2025

Topic Talks for parent carers, virtual in the morning and repeated in person in the afternoon, including time for questions and peer support.

The following Topic Talks have been scheduled:

Toileting Tips - Wednesday 30 April
Sleep - Wednesday 14 May
Managing Emotions - Wednesday 18 June
Help for the Holidays - Wednesday 2 July

Virtual talks take place from 10.00am to 11.00am on Microsoft Teams. Due to confidentiality issues, we'll be unable to discuss named children during this time.

In person talks take place between 1.30 and 2.30pm at The YIKS All About Autism Hub, Clifton Children’s Centre, (in front of Clifton Green School), YO30 6BF.

Parent carer phone line and drop-in

The Autism Specialist Teaching Team are offering parent carers the opportunity to talk to a member of the team regarding general issues and concerns about children and young people with autism with a fortnightly phone line in the morning and drop-ins in the afternoon.

Phone line support is available from 9.00am to 12.00pm. 20 minutes is allocated per phone call.

In person drop-in support is available from 1.30pm to 2.30 pm at The YIKS All About Autism Hub, Clifton Children’s Centre, (in front of Clifton Green School), YO30 6BF.

You can access either of these services on the following dates:

Wednesday 11 June
Wednesday 25 June
Wednesday 9 July

To book a 20-minute phone call, or to book your virtual place on a Microsoft Teams Topic Talk session, email: [email protected] with your name stating which Topic Talks you would like to book. This is an admin email address and we are unable to forward or respond to queries via this email.

For phone support, we require your name and a contact telephone number for us to call you.

We'll send you a time slot for your 20-minute call.

If we receive a high volume of requests we may need to allocate spaces on the session on a first come, first served basis.

Bookings close the Thursday before the session.

For in person drop-in sessions, you do not need to book and you are welcome to simply arrive on the day. Please be aware, sessions may be busy and you may need to wait to speak to a member of the team.
