SEND Youth Forum
Send Youth Forum
City of York Council’s Special Educational Needs Service would like to invite children from across York to be a member of our SEND Youth Forum.
This forum will directly shape services for young people in the city and provide them with an opportunity to share their views and ideas with leaders from across Education Health and Care to create positive change.
The groups will be co-created based on the feedback from yourselves and your young people, but first we need to know who wants to be involved.
What we know already
- there will be two groups running alongside each other on an evening at the SEND Hub at Clifton Children’s Centre
- these groups will be split according to age (for example, dependent on feedback, 7 to 14 years and the second from 14 to 25 years old)
What we will decide on together
- day of the week for meeting
- frequency of meetings (weekly or bi-weekly)
- name of the group
- format of the meetings
Together as a group we will then work together to understand what is important to young people and that will direct our focus and agenda as a group.
What we are asking for
Volunteers from 7 to 25 who:
- are able to advocate for themselves within a scaffolded session
- would enjoy sharing their views and ideas
- feel comfortable in a group setting
- want to make a difference
Do you want to get involved, email [email protected] and Laura will keep you updated with the progress of the group development
We are aware that these two groups will not meet the needs of everyone, however we are passionate about including everyone who wishes to partake. In the next stage of our work, we aim to involve even more young people in voice groups, so everyone can share their views in their own way. If you don’t feel that the two current groups will work for your child, but want to know more about the future groups, please contact [email protected]
